Say goodbye to white tape!
So these are Fay’s new white-rimmed/white top/white around the ankle/whatever you want to call them hardshoes (ignore my pale legs). And I absolutely love them!
They weren’t harder to break in than the average Fay’s grey sole, which is what I normally wear, and they’re super gorg.
I have a narrow heel, so I always go ahead and have a second strap put onto the ankle of my new hardshoes. Many girls do this, so to match the white top of this pair I just asked the shoe guy to attach white straps instead.
I received a few messages about the laces. Since I wear huge buckles on my shoes, my white laces are always covered. But for those of you who don’t wear buckles, try wearing white laces but coloring the bottom half in with a black permanent marker. It works great and you can barely tell the laces were originally all white, even from up close.
I do have one warning if you’re looking into purchasing this pair of hardshoe, or any other white top hardshoe, the white area does easily scuff, so make sure to get yourself some white shoe polish. You’re going to need it!
How do you guys feel about these hardshoes?? I tape the straps of mine with white electrical tape because I like the way it looks but these…idk what to think!
My hardshoes are so fancy!
First Feis is quite a while :) these are from my Trad. Set ^^ I danced in my class costume and without a wig cause we had the Treble Reel right afterwards and my hairstyle fitted my Treble Reel costume :)
(Just did those two and a ceili ^^ - actually two because another dancer hurt herself haha)
So ages ago my friend did a dance shoot with me and these are two of the pics.
Masterpost about my Irish shoes!
pics 1-2 are what my shoes’ heels looked like some time ago. But the paint stayed just for 3 or 4 classes and I was annoyed to renew it so often, even though it looks so nice.
pics 3-4 are what my shoes look like now. Apparently it stays for longer under the heels but this was my first try with this contour paint and it turned out to be a bit ugly, haha! I’m going to redo this as soon as I find some solvent. (I use silver tape for my shoes because I can’t find any black one here that doesn’t tear after just one dance round. Of course I’ll go for black for a feis)
pics 5-6 are the street shoes my friend made for me using my teacher’s old soft shoes. He attached new thick leather soles and even carved some patterns. I love them! I’d save them for a festival where I can walk on grass or softer ground - don’t want the patterns to be rubbed away on pavement.
pics 7-8 are my regular autumn/spring shoes. I saw them in a random shoeshop and just couldn’t resist, could I? ;)
let’s pretend elegance isn’t spelled wrong ok? cool.
Wish I could use these a lot more then I do
IM SO PROUD OH MER GOD <3
I just used a pen to make a hole in my tights so I can put my toe pads and spacers on. Improvise.
My favourite thing about getting new pointe shoes is sewing the ribbons and elastics on. So excited to get back into grove of things next year with @adeleforan 🙆 #pointe #pointeshoes
I should do this when I go through ten pairs. I’m going onto pointe next year. Deep breaths.
